Our Story
A Collection 25 Years in the Making
Maison Persane is shaped by a lifelong connection to Persian culture, a deep respect for traditional weaving, and the belief that a remarkable rug should be lived with.
Meet Abbas
From Shiraz to Maison Persane
Abbas Alizadeh is a native of Shiraz, a city celebrated for poetry, gardens, art, and centuries of Persian cultural life. Growing up in Iran gave him an early connection to the visual language, traditions, and stories that surround Persian rugs.
He studied Sociology in Iran and later earned a Master’s degree in Anthropology from George Mason University. His academic background gave him a deeper understanding of culture, identity, tradition, and the meaning objects carry from one generation to another.
This way of seeing has always shaped his relationship with rugs. For Abbas, a Persian rug is not simply a decorative object. It is a record of place, memory, artistic expression, and the hands that created it.
Abbas began his professional career at one of the region’s most respected Persian rug galleries, where he developed practical knowledge through years of working directly with exceptional rugs and discerning clients. He later took responsibility for managing its Alexandria showroom, helping customers understand the character of each piece and guiding them toward rugs that felt right for their homes.
Over more than twenty years in the profession, he built broad knowledge of Persian rugs from weaving regions across Iran. His experience includes close attention to design, color, construction, regional character, age, and the qualities that make one piece distinct from another.
A rug carries the history of the hands that made it and the homes that have lived with it.
For more than twenty five years, Abbas quietly built his own personal collection. He was never interested in collecting pieces simply because they were available. Each rug was chosen for its age, individuality, character, rarity, and the feeling it created in a room.
The collection grew slowly and personally. Some pieces stood out for their color. Others for their drawing, unusual composition, regional character, or the beauty that only time can create. Together, they became a collection shaped by knowledge, patience, and instinct.
Maison Persane opens this personal collection to a new generation of homes and collectors. It offers the opportunity to discover antique Persian rugs that were selected over decades rather than gathered for a single sale.
The experience remains personal. Abbas works directly with each client, sharing what he sees in a rug and helping them consider scale, color, placement, and the relationship between the rug and the room around it.
Through Maison Persane, clients can also receive personalized interior styling guidance. The goal is not only to find a beautiful rug, but to help it live naturally with the furniture, art, colors, and character of the home.
Every rug begins with a story. Maison Persane helps that story continue.
